The purpose of the North Terrace West Movement Study was to provide baseline (2016) and future (2026) conditions data for transport and movement along North Terrace, from King William Street to West Terrace and from key venues, parking stations and public transport nodes within the wider precinct.
Since the precinct Master Plan in 2001, a number of individual projects have contributed significantly to North Terrace West and in doing so, have occurred in isolation from a cohesive multi-modal movement network. This Study brought together a range of strategic information and data, enabling an holistic understanding of the transport network and movements it supports. This included consideration of land use destinations, movement generators, vehicle and bicycle parking stations and public transport nodes, as well as assessing how the precinct will operate at macro and micro levels in the future.
Stakeholders were also engaged to review issues and refine opportunities to be owned across multiple agencies.
This Study set the framework for an urban design and strategic planning response that supports the overall vision for North Terrace.
