InfraPlan was engaged by the Urban Renewal Authority (Renewal SA) to undertake a study into the connectivity of the shared path network within Adelaide’s vibrant Riverbank Precinct.
The core objective was to enable a shared path network that is safe, continuous, legible and responsive to evolving strategic directions. Our methodology considered the current usage of precinct pathways and the identification of blockages, conflict points and gaps. To avoid recreating the precinct’s strategic framework, the recommendations focus on achieving implementable solutions that enhance the already extensive, but at times convoluted path network.
An onsite audit of the nearly 20km network was undertaken by our team, who also reviewed user counts, nearby traffic speed and volume data, and lighting assets in GIS. User-groups and stakeholders were engaged to provide additional feedback and input toward the final recommendations. Our team then developed a Path Hierarchy to assist Renewal SA in prioritising upgrades and form a framework for a future wayfinding strategy.
Infrastructure and lighting upgrades were concept designed and costed to sit within the prioritised recommendations.
